Pollucite.
The Question
At the Sinclair Caesium deposit, the core was being scanned per meter. This means for every one metre of core there is one analysis point to summaries that section.
Within pollucite sample what is the composition of the veins through the sample?
A sample from the high-grade pollucite zone (>20% Cs) was analysed by the Bruker M4 TORNADO to answer this question.
Our Findings
The elevated concentrations of Rb, Mn, K and Ca in the veins and veinlets are used to map out several distinct generations. The abundance of these elements also varied considerably within individual veins.
The main NE and NW veins in the sample are composed of lepidolite and are verified by the high concentrations of Rb and K. The other veinlets running in NNW and NNE are characterised by differing abundances of Mn, K and Ca. Anhedral albite grains are identified with minor potassic alteration halos and are orientated in the same direction as the NNW trending lepidolite veinlets.
The micro-XRF analysis of this sample highlights the wealth of information and knowledge that was gained from a quick scan of pollucite ore.
