Oil and Gas
The Bruker M4 TORNADO is a micro-XRF instrument that can produce geochemical maps and line scans of major and trace elements of host rocks, including light elements down to sodium (Na).
These scans make it easy to distinguish between different lithologies for example:
-
Limestone
-
Sandstone
-
Siltstone
-
Shale
-
Dolomite
-
etc.
As well identifying the mineralogy within these lithological units.
Additionally, various physical characteristics such as fracture population and porosity can also be gauged. Trace element analysis can also enable chemistratigraphy markers to be identified.
Understanding the chemical features of the host rocks during drilling programs can help in making critical decisions within a reasonable time frame, with line scans and high-quality maps produced quickly using the Bruker M4 TORNADO.
